Month: March 2019

Get up and out early !

A nice start to the day, but then the forecast is for the wind to get up and then rain is due. The course is getting quite wet again, the 18th and 13th will be on temporary greens today. Buggys are only allowed on the front 9 and must stick to the paths. Trolleys are on, you will find it easier to stick to the paths where possible.

PRO SHOP CREDITS

May we kindly remind all members that shop credits have to be spent by 31st March. As from April 1st there will be a new vouchers system for Competition winnings.

If you are not sure if or how much money you have on your account. Please come in to the shop and ask a member of staff. We’ll be happy to spend it for you.

This is to insure we do not have too much money tied up in our inventory and can be used to purchase new stock and merchandise for the shop in the new membership year.

Our current stock is quiet low but please let us know if there is anything you see online as we would be happy to order it in for you. The professional shop has accounts with virtually all main brands in the golfing market. Please be advised there may be cartridge charges with some manufactures for single item orders but we will certainly let you know if this applys to you.

Although our FootJoy Shoe order may not have landed by the 31st March, their footwear this year is very special and we would advice you to look online at their range.

We have new Greg Norman shirts in stock at a very reasonable price and our FootJoy Sale shirts are STILL here.

RRP @ £50-£60 per top we are selling them at £35 each, 2 for £60

Your credit can also be spent in our Studio having loft and lie checks, fitting, gapping sessions, purchasing putters, wedges, fairway woods, drivers or even shafts to fit your own clubs you like so much.

A better day

Please firstly note that the 11th hole is closed for the next couple of days for irrigation works. Please use the practice hole to the left of the 8th green as your replacement hole. Buggy’s are on the front 9 only and only to the paths. Trolley’s are on.

MONDAY PUTTING TIPS

Why is ball position so important to become a better Putter?

Let us explain….

In an ideal world, the strike of a putt should be on the upward/ascending arc for a more efficient roll.

If the ball is positioned incorrectly in our stance in relation to our front and back foot. This can make you hit too much down on the ball effecting the roll but also effectting our strike and putter path.

A simple key to check if yours is correct….

Take your set up and drop a ball from your lead eye (left – for a right handed golfer). Where that ball drop is the ideal place to position the ball in set up.

For lesson bookings and general enquiries please contact the pro shop or fill out the contact form underneath.

There coming back

This morning Mj Abbotts return for a few weeks to install further Irrigation and a few other things to our great course. Have a look below.

Their Back at Abridge Golf Club

Between us we will start installing further improvements to our new Perrot Irrigation system.

PERROT IRRIGATION PRODUCTS

The work includes sprinkler installation to the 11th fairway and also parts of the 14th fairway. We will also be adding sprinklers to the 2nd tees, surrounds on holes 7,12,13,14 and further sprinklers to the 10th approach. Please be aware that holes 1,10,11 and 14 will be closed when work is being done but no more than one hole will be closed at a time. The par 3 normally the practice green to the left of the 8th green, will be used as the substitute hole when these holes are shut

Other works to be done will include the new water mains installed from the road across the bottom of the driving range , across the 1st approach , in front of the 2nd tee and then connected to the new Pump House. The new 3 phase electric cable will also be taken across the same route and also join into the new Pump house. The Irrigation holding tank will also be finished, computer software and irrigation programme control system updated and then everything connected up. The new state of the art Perrot Irrigation equipment /Mj Abbot install will be all ready to rock n roll!

No other Golf Course in Essex will have such an efficient modern Irrigation system. We were in great condition last year, and we should be even better this year.

I ask again for all golfers to be patient and understanding while these works take place. I will each day let the pro shop know and update the website and ‘team up’ calendar as to where works are being done.

On a different subject i’m sure you will have noticed we have a problem with the 4th green. Between our agronomists, my own staff and myself we believe we have established a very good theory as what’s wrong with it and are now taking the necessary steps to get it sorted. I will give you the full story on it once we are 100% sure of what has happened.

We had a visit from this man on Tuesday afternoon.

What a very very pleasant man, happy to talk and for me despite being a 125% Gooner was really impressed to hear of his passion for West Ham and his desire to take to take them higher in the league. He asked me for a selfie, which I was happy to give him.

Enjoy your golf . Enjoy your Course . Enjoy your club, remember its yours!

Geoff
