How is it all going ?

Good morning to you all i hope you are well?

Well, we have been having a great end to the Summer and Autumn regarding the weather. It's enabled you all to keep playing and the Course has been very busy. It's incredible to think that by September last year we were already very wet. The Course continues to be reported in great condition so I thank my staff for all their hardwork.

Temperatures have are still good and conducive to grass growing but the humidity of night time temperatures does bring its problems with regards to Disease pressures.

Mild nights causing heavy morning dews are perfect for disease to break out

The Greens over the last five weeks have been sprayed with three different fungicides, a granular Iron + hardner and two sprays of Phosphite, iron and Ph Buffer to try to keep disease at bay ! but as I said above Disease pressure is high at the moment. If we do suffer like last year at least you all know now what will deliver with your Course in the Spring , but as I say we are doing our very very best not to suffer this Winter

Coming out the otherside of last year's tough winter

This good weather is letting us crack on with the Bunker renewal works. We are concentrating on getting as many Bunkers scraped out first while we can get the Digger and heavier machinery around the Course before the ground gets soft. New drainage and liners are being put in all Bunkers and then the new sand will be added as soon as we can.

New drainage going into all the Bunkers

Each bunker, once sand has been added ,will take a few weeks to settle and we will almost definitely need to 'top up' them once the Sand has settled. With regards to what Bunkers are in play the rule is :- If there is no rake then the Bunker is GUR, if there is a rake then they are in play. Please also take care we are putting new drains in as these maybe left open while maintain the Course at the same time.

13th fairway Bunker fully renovated with new Drainage, liner and new sand

Further Autumn/ Winter work is also taking place already. These works are including some tree removal and coppicing as per our Ecology plan that was introduced in 2023. The new trees planted last year are mostly doing well and I can announce that a further £15k of Tree grant money has been given and more new Trees will be planted in late November. We have also purchased some more Spring flowering Bulbs to be planted. We will be looking for volunteers to help with the new trees and Bulbs so I will send out a separate email request for when we are ready for some help.

Continuing our Ecology programme with tree reductions

Further works such as path renewal, 3 more Winter Tee mats, (including one at the back of the 2nd tee for the big hitters!), and hopefully some more drainage will also take place. This weather is great for play and I'm very happy to have it but it does mean that the grass is still growing so we also have to keep on top of this as well ! Oh and the leaves are starting to drop ! We will continue to keep Summer heights of cut going for as long as we can but we will slowly have to start raising them over the coming weeks.

The fantastic support of Development Fund Members we are continually grateful too! and the redevelopment of the 13th Green complex is almost complete. The Contractors and my staff have done an amazing job and the contractors moved off site this week . The rest of the Turfing is being done over the next 2 weeks and the water pumping system is being installed on Monday next week. Please Please!  keep out of the fenced and roped off areas as we have to let the New Turf 'knit in' before we can open this areas for play.

13th Green new ponds coming along nicely thank to the Development Fund !

The Range Grass Tee has now been seeded for the Winter and we ask ALL of you to use the Mats now. Those that choose to still hit off the Grass you are only ruining it for yourself and everyone else!

Please note that from the 20th October works commence on the new Storage compound which is to the right of the Main driveway. Please be aware there will be movement of Lorries in and out of the Club while these works take place.

We continue to attract New Members so once again I welcome you all to our great Club.

Thank you all for your patience as we carry out our Autumn / Winter projects and I hope this weather continues for weeks to come so you can ll carry on enjoying your Golf Course

Enjoy your Club Enjoy your course ...................its your remember !!
